House of kellie

The Place of Kellie, or the House of Kellie, is the original home of the Gordon family at Haddo which was destroyed by the Covenanters in the 1640s. A longstanding mystery among local historians and archaeologists, it’s location has been the object of much scrutiny and speculation – some have gone so far as to describe it as the β€œHoly Grail of local archaeology”. Discoveries in August 2011, however, point strongly towards the presence of ruins underneath the front lawn of Haddo House, confirming some theories that the current House was built on top of the ruins of the one that had been razed to the ground.
